KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

USE UP TO 69% LESS ENERGY WHEN COOKING

Roughly 11 % of the electricity used every year by an average Swiss household is expended on cooking and baking.  By using the right cookware, you can save lots of electricity – and money! And that’s not all – our two cooking methods “soft cooking” and pressure cooking also help you save time and eat more healthily. Both of these methods cook food gently to lock in the nutrients and vitamins.

JUST SUPPOSE ...

Just suppose you made the switch today and did all your cooking from now on with a DUROTHERM®/HOTPAN®, and a DUROMATIC®. You’d save enough electricity every year to:

… watch television non-stop for 34 days

… complete 85 laundry cycles at 60 °C in your washing machine

… bake 115 pizzas in your oven

… work or play on your computer without any breaks for 60 whole days

SOFT COOKING WITH THE DUROTHERM® AND HOTPAN®

When you use the soft cooking method, food is heated only very briefly. The thermal cookware then stores the heat, meaning you can switch off the hob.  Inside theDUROTHERM® or the HOTPAN®, the food continues cooking in the residual heat. We call this process “soft cooking”.

This is a very gentle method for cooking food because it preserves up to 60 % more nutrients and vitamins than conventional cooking methods. What’s more, it uses more than 60 % less energy.

PRESSURE COOKING WITH THE DUROMATIC®

When you use a pressure cooker, the thing you save most is lots of time.  In addition, you use up to 69 % less energy, because the hob is on for a much shorter period of time. Thanks to the fact that food cooks so quickly, valuable nutrients have no time to escape. That’s why cooking food in a pressure cooker is so much healthier than cooking food via conventional methods.

TIPS AND TRICKS

To help you save as much energy as possible in the kitchen, here are a few more energy-saving tips:

  • If you’re cooking with a conventional pot or pan, use the lid! This will use up to 40 % less electricity.
  • Virtually all foods can be cooked in our HOTPAN®, DUROTHERM® pan or DUROMATIC® pressure cooker – while using up to 69 % less electricity!
  • You only need to turn your extraction fan on to its highest setting if you’re frying meat at a high temperature. At all other times, a low setting is perfectly sufficient to capture any moisture and odours.
  • If you leave your fridge door open for long, all the cold escapes. So before you open it, stop and think first what you want to take out of the fridge!
  • Conventional coffee machines heat up so fast that there’s generally no point leaving
