WHEN PANS AND APPS START TALKING

You simply can’t boil rice to perfection? Or you’re never quite sure how to cook fennel properly? Then this sophisticated cooking experience is for you!

The DUROMATIC® Comfort and HOTPAN® Comfort have raised the bar in cooking and now support you as you prepare your favourite dishes. Using the Kuhn Rikon app or the V-ZUG GuidedCooking app is like having a head chef by your side. Gone are the days of worrying about optimum hob settings or cooking times; our sophisticated technology takes care of everything!

HOW DOES THE DUROMATIC® COMFORT WORK?

STEP 1: SWITCH ON AND CONNECT

Fill the DUROMATIC® Comfort with the ingredients of your choice and the required amount of water. Close the lid correctly. Place the DUROMATIC® Comfort on the hob and press the blue Bluetooth button on the handle. Now activate Bluetooth on your tablet or smartphone. Open the app and choose your desired menu. Follow the instructions in the app. You will now receive step-by-step instructions and information on the cooking process.

STEP 2: COOKING TIME

When the food comes up to the boil, atmospheric oxygen escapes through the valve. Once this has finished, pressure builds up inside the pan and the valve is pushed upwards. The two red rings which appear as the pressure inside the pan increases indicate settings 1 and 2.

Cooking time is counted from the moment the valve reaches the required setting. The app automatically recognises the required cooking time. Adjust your hob according to the instructions given by the app so that pressure is maintained at the required setting. If you are cooking on a V-ZUG GuidedCooking hob you can ignore this step, as the hob will adjust itself automatically.

STEP 3: RELEASING STEAM

Once your food is cooked, you’ll hear an acoustic signal.

Before you open the pan, however, the pressure must be released. The app will tell you which steam release option is best for the particular type of food you are cooking.

HOW DOES THE HOTPAN® COMFORT WORK?

IMPORTANT: The product can currently only be used with the V-ZUG GuidedCooking hob.

STEP 1: SWITCH ON AND CONNECT

The app can be downloaded in the respective App store. By pressing the blue Bluetooth button on the HOTPAN®, your device is directly connected with the cooking assistant of the app.

Please ensure that Bluetooth is switched on on your device. Connecting may take a few seconds. Then follow the instructions given by the app during the first connection.

STEP 2: COOKING TIME

Keep the pan covered as it boils until a pillow of steam rises. From this point on, you must not open the lid. The app automatically recognises the required cooking time. Adjust your hob according to the instructions given by the app so that heat is maintained at the required setting. If you are cooking on a V-ZUG GuidedCooking hob you can ignore this step, as the hob will adjust itself automatically.

STEP 3: SOFT COOKING AND KEEPING FOOD WARM

Remove the HOTPAN® Comfort from the hob and place it inside the thermal bowl. The food will now continue cooking by itself for the exact amount of time required. Afterwards, it will remain hot for up to 2 hours.

HOW THE TECHNOLOGY WORKS

At the heart of the new system is the Kuhn Rikon app, specially developed for this purpose. It can control the cooking process directly, adjusting it to the dish you have chosen and the size of pan you are using. Here’s how: a Bluetooth sensor has been integrated in the handle of the DUROMATIC® Comfort (or in the lid handle of the HOTPAN® Comfort). During the cooking process, this sensor reads the temperature inside the pan. The app needs this information in order to calculate and instruct you on the required setting and cooking time. As soon as your food is cooked, the app notifies you by sounding an acoustic signal.

And voilà, your dish is ready – cooked to perfection!
