PARTNERSHIPS WITH CLIMATE PARTNERS
CARBON-NEUTRAL SHIPPING
Protecting the environment is a priority for us. In building our new sustainability strategy, we have identified four key areas to focus on:
- Reducing our carbon footprint
- Strengthening the circular economy
- Promoting health
- Improving working conditions
As a first step, we worked together with our partner ClimatePartner to determine the carbon footprint induced by our business operations. Over the next few months, the aim will be to eliminate or reduce our footprint, or, if not otherwise possible, to compensate for it. The shipment of our products to end customers is a clearly defined, climate-impacting activity, which we can make climate-neutral through compensation payments.
Clean cooking stoves for Nyungwe, Rwanda
The area around Nyungwe Forest National Park in Rwanda is densely populated. Until now, the local population always cooked with traditional three-stone cooking fires. Yet these open fires are not very energy-efficient, require a lot of firewood from the nearby forest and emit a considerable amount of CO2. Our financial contribution will be used to provide the population with efficient cooking stoves made of sand and clay, which not only preserve the environment but also the health of inhabitants.
